Live register numbers down almost 1% in March – CSO

The seasonally adjusted number of people on the Live Register in
March stood at 180,500 – a decrease of almost 1%, or 1,600 from the
position in February.

According to figures from the Central Statistics Office, the unadjusted total stood at 179,777 for March.

Of those, almost 54% were male and just under 70% were Irish.

Almost a quarter of all people on the Live Register in March were in the 35-44 age category.

The counties that saw the largest percentage increase in the number
of people on the Live Register in the year to March 2023 were Kerry and
Leitrim.

The countries recording the biggest fall in numbers were Dublin and the surrounding counties of Meath and Kildare.

The number of people on the Live Register for one year or more stood at 61,827 in March, down 6,885 from a year earlier.

Around two thirds of those on Live Register were there for less than a year.
